I don`t know what is the criteria for a state to be eligible for legislative council....

@irfanudin :two houses are for the better management in some large states as listed above. need for the 2 houses is that , suppose election are heading in the legislative assembly and any situation of war/ emergency emerges ... who will look after it .. the legislative council.It is mainly for the better management and control

ReplyDeleteThe size of the Vidhan Parishad cannot be more than one-third the membership of the Vidhan Sabha. However, its size cannot be less than 40 members (except in Jammu and Kashmir, where there are 36 by an Act of Parliament.)
